Hello, fellow Lions.

So, introductory posts are always a little sketchy, because you're never really sure what to include, what to leave out, and just when to stop rambling. I'll do my best to make this an easy post for anyone interested to read.

Obviously, my name is Austin Barnes. I'm 22 as of this month, and a Psychology major at Missouri Southern (I'm sure you've heard of this place...). I'm usually a pretty laid back individual, and can also be shy fairly often.

I'm your typical guy in this age range these days. I listen to music of all types, all the time. I love movies, also from A to Z. I happen to be a pretty big nerd and avid gamer as well. I'm guilty of playing World of Warcraft for a few years now, though I also own an Xbox 360 (currently frequenting Skyrim and Call of Duty) and a Wii, and have been lucky enough to find a female counterpart (also known as a better half) that is just as geeky as I am.

I have the best dog ever. He's a corgi by the name of Korben. Six months old, so he's quite the little rascal.

Like many of you may have been, I was directly affected by the May 22nd tornado last year. My grandmother and I lost our home, many of our possessions, and we nearly lost our two other dogs. Our home has been rebuilt and we're finally moved back in. While it's a relief to have our own roof and walls again, it's still proving to be a difficult situation to look past. I believe it's changed me for the rest of my life. Some things I'll work through and get over, other things will eat at me for years.

I do believe I'm rambling now, so this "lion" shall have his final roar for the day!

  1. First off, I can tell by your profile picture that you don't get enough sun. do you get it? If not, go to your edit profile and you will see what I mean. Hmmm could it be from too many video games?

Seriously, I'm so sorry that you were in the tornado. I was just stuck at the Drury Inn without power and running water with my family that came up from Illinois to attend my graduation. I can only imagine what you have gone through.

  2. I am sorry that you lost your home in the tornado. That kind of thing can never be easy but God works in mysterious ways! I really enjoyed reading your blog.
